18th century Welsh oak eight day long case clock marked John Owen, Llanrwst (recorded in Clock and Watch Makers in Wales by Iorwerth C Peate as being active in the mid 18th century, and particularly known for making of the Old Town clock in Llanrwst). the case having flat moulded hood over square aperture flanked by turned pillars, moulded waist door flanked by quarter pilasters on a panelled and skirted base. Twelve inch square brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, silvered seconds dial and pierced vase spandrels. Eight day two train movement with baluster pillars striking on one bell. 215cm high approx. overall. Complete with two weights and pendulum. (B.P. 21% + VAT)
